It was very difficult to give up the badge mostly because it was a constant reminder during my career of the critical importance entrusted by the people to our care.
I have often said that resource management is:
About managing people since it's through people management that we protect and enhance our valued passengers; and
Resource management is an evolving process that by necessity has to change to be effective.
I am pleased to be the new Director General of the Iraqi National currier – today, I am going to change that statement to say – I am pleased to be the Director of the "new" Department of Iraqi Airways.
Iraqi Airways has been through some very tough times, but I am not looking back and I am asking the same from you. I want you to look forward to our "mutual futures" with this Directorate. What's the difference you might ask? The difference in my mind is whether you view yourselves as part of us , overall combined efforts to manage and support yourAirliners and your affords to see your Green Eagle pride after 25 years of instability in our country whether you view your role strictly as the enforcers of seeing us over three major cities London,Frakford and Athens .
The former is what I am challenging the "new” Program to deliver based on Trust, Punctuality and security, and by doing so, lead the way for the Airline to become the "new” Iraqi Airways you dreamt of. We collectively, as an Iraqi National currier, have to become the leaders in all aspects of Iraq's resource management.
Starting our first flights for decade will be changing to meet the challenges of the future, and one of those changes is the accreditation program. When completed, you as a passenger will be the first accredited. To gain accreditation, does its business will change for the better? The way you take on the challenge of change, highly qualified employees, all the employees of Our General Sales Agents all over these cities will, closely watch the evolution of your program.
The new biennial budget has money in it to hire and train new officers and money to fix some of the operational shortfalls as well. In addition, we are gathering all our resources to fund additional requests, which have had favourable review. Bottom line – the Iraqi Airways has recognized the importance of enforcement for proper resource management and has fully vested enforcement in its future.
I want to use you as an example of how change can be accepted as an opportunity rather than as a threat. I am looking for you to lead the way for your national currier to become the "new” Iraqi Airways. The "new" department must be up and functioning this next biennium so help us get there by reinforcing your commitments, and in turn have a nice flight on the board of Iraqi Airways.
